Dawn

Award winning vocalist Dawn hails from Birmingham has performed in the U.K., Germany & South Africa. She was well known & loved in the West Midlands with her popular one woman show before relocating in the Waveney Valley. Prior to that, she worked throughout the U.K with Paul in a musical comedy duo. Dawn enjoys performing a variety of music from traditional through music hall to Forties ballads. She well deserves the Pseudonym ‘A Nightingale Sings' for her beautiful & haunting voice.

Paul

Paul started his musical career playing bass in a 1970's folk band & has really returned to his roots when forming Sylvanne. Since the early days he has played Sax, Guitar & Keyboards in various line ups covering most popular musical styles, in particular writing & performing musical comedy with Dawn around the UK club circuit. Paul's influences are taken from folk, jazz & rock styles & he has also studied early music interpretation & composition.

 Ted

Ted is the bands character & is only allowed out of Norfolk under special licence. He has a huge repertoire of Irish material, not only all the popular sing along favourites but also sad, comic & songs of lost love. Ted's love of music came from listening to the great gunfighter ballads of Marty Robbin's and after acquiring his first guitar in the late sixties he has ‘jammed' in local pubs with Cat Stevens along with Cat's guitarist Allun Davis. 1979 found him driving a truck on a 4 week rock ‘n' roll tour of Scandinavia with Suzi Quatro. Always supported by his wife Yvonne, who never stands in the way of his many 'hare brained schemes' Ted went on to play in, and form, duo's & bands and to organising ‘open mic' nights leading up to where he is today, and in Ted's own words “ So now we have ‘Sylvanne', Dawn with the voice of an angel, Pauls amazing fretless bass and six string, Amanda and her electric fiddle and me, Ted, with whatever contribution I make”.

 Amanda

Amanda's musical style has evolved from classical piano and violin lessons at school, and includes composing and performing music for local Amateur Dramatic Societies, as well as the diversity of playing anything from Vilvaldi in Chamber Orchestras to "The Highland fling" at Charity Ceilidhs. More recently, connecting and playing with kindred spirits at Accoustic Music and 'Open Mic' nights in local pubs, has unleashed the Celtic blood from her Scottish ancestry. Discovering a passion for the true versatility of fiddle playing has led to fun-filled music sessions, combining lively, rhythmic jigs with the more fluid, mellow tones of haunting Celtic ballads, mixed with the comfort of playing more popular, well known songs. Playing music together, rehearsed and bonded with friendship, is a truly special and joyous experience which we hope will be captured in the sound of "Sylvanne".
